Pharoahe Monch - "P.T.S.D." Album Stats

Pharoahe Monch Damage

Profound wordsmith Pharoahe Monch displays his unique sociopolitical outlook on “Damage,” which chronicles the tragedy of inner city killings and mass murder. As the third and final installment of his bullet trilogy, the Jamaica, Queens MC spits from a bullet’s point of view with a phenomenal mastery of the English language. He even goes as far as to use a rapid fire flow to emphasize the gun shooting the proverbial bullet.

Produced by Lee Stone, Monch utilizes hip-hop as a platform for political engagement, shedding light on the highly controversial law used to protect George Zimmerman, giving the power back to the people collectively and defensively against an unjust government system which protestors took to many squares and church pulpits. This potent, aggressive, hard-hitting track finds Monch speaking about the Florida Law of the same name. Listen below. - Andrew Asare

Pharoahe Monch Stand Your Ground
Pharoahe Monch BadMF Pic 1

There's already plenty of historical evidence that Queens' lyrical mastermind Pharoahe Monch is a bad motherfucker on the mic, but the lengths to which this madman will go have not been tested. At least, that's the premise of his new single, the ferociously delivered "Bad MF," which tells the story of the "rapper gone insane."

Okay, not that insane, but the wordplay here is fierce (written out, the syllabic joy of "mashing in that Aston Martin on the Verrazano Narrows/Greatest of all time in the latest apparel" doesn't really translate, but trust), and the attitude is fiercer, with taunting lines like "when the truth walked in the building every liar retired."
